Intro

Many exhibitions this month… The 24 Hours of Le Mans always in the spotlight, with “The Grand Exhibition” at the 24 Hours Museum which celebrated with pomp the centenary of the race. At the Corvette Museum (USA), a new gallery has just been inaugurated, to complete the permanent exhibition with an educational touch. Corvette also in Belgium, where Autoworld celebrates the 70th anniversary of the American sports car. Always muscle at the Audrain Museum (Newport, USA) which offers to browse the history of muscle cars with some emblematic models. At the Savoy Museum (Georgia, USA), muscle also but in a different style with the great saga of pickups, from the first utilitarian machines to the most recent pickups stuffed with horsepwer. Less power, lighter, but still sporty, the cyclecars presented at the Louwman Museum opened motorsport to a new category of drivers. Finally, the National Automobile Museum in Beaulieu (England) dives in the automotive environment, revisiting the visions we had in the past of the future of mobility. Note that due to many exhibitions and activities presented by museums during the summer, a “special summer” newsletter will be distributed in a few days.

Info on web site

3 New museums on the site this month (now 93 referenced museums), 3 museums of enthusiasts but very different in their style and content. In Ypres, Belgium, Passion for Cars exhibits sporty and prestigious cars, European and American, and an exceptional collection of Citroen SM. In Normandy, Station 70 presents some youngtimers, but especially a large collection of 2 wheels and automobilia, as well as several dioramas, while in Aigues-Mortes (France), it is rather older cars often pre-war that are discovered.

Visite of the month

Ephemeral museum created for the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and which was an exceptional, unique exhibition that we will probably not be seen again. Back in words and moreover in photos, in particular for those who did not have the chance to visit it.
