About Automobile Museums
Automobile-Museums is a bilingual (French and English) multimedia platform dedicated to automobile museums around the world, consisting of the Automobile-Museums.com website, a blog, a newsletter, and Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts.
The website’s goal is to serve as the definitive resource in the field, listing automobile-related museums and collections open to the public, while striving to be as comprehensive as possible. The collections are organized by country and region, with a page for each institution, providing a brief overview of the museum, a few cars on display, and other exhibition elements (other vehicles, decor, objects, visitor services, etc.), along with practical information for visiting (address, contact details, hours, and admission fees). This allows visitors to find all the information they need to plan their visit in one place.
The blog features numerous temporary exhibitions organized by museums throughout the year, non-museum exhibitions related to classic cars, as well as certain events (such as auto shows) dedicated to classic cars and automotive enthusiasts.
The monthly newsletter (free subscription) compiles the articles published on the blog during the month.
A calendar lists numerous events dedicated to automotive passion, including trade shows and competitions of national or international scope. However, Automobile-Museums does not cover local gatherings and events due to time and space constraints, especially since other media outlets already do so very well.
LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram also communicate to the community the evolutions of the platform and and share news.
Why Automobile Museums?
A means of transport, of easier movement, the automobile quickly became a symbol of freedom, emancipation and an object of passion, while competition in all its forms developed the interest of the public. Over time, enthusiasts have developed car collections that they have sometimes opened to the public, associations have been created to open museums, institutions have wanted to share their heritage, and more recently manufacturers have understood the importance of valuing their history. All this Unfortunately, traditional tourist guides say little about these museums, which allow the general public to better understand the evolution of the industry, fashions, uses. The passion is there, however, as evidenced by the affluence on shows and gatherings of old cars, or the recent phenomenon of youngtimers. Automobile-Museums is therefore the means to inform, to interest, to attract amateurs and others, and to promote these places of culture and memory.
And now?
Launched in late January 2022, the Automobile-Museums.com website continues to expand regularly, adding more museums and collections in more countries. It now lists over a hundred museums and collections. Practical information is updated regularly, and further developments are planned.
