Intro to Epoqu’auto 2026 - Automobile Museums

For 2026, the Epoqu’auto show in Lyon has grown even further. A new hall brings the covered exhibition space to 98,000 m² (+8,000 m²) and adds an outdoor track for dynamic demonstrations. With a packed program and 108,000 visitors in 2025, the show naturally aims to surpass the 110,000-visitor mark, with more than 1,000 exhibitors on hand to welcome them!

Themed Exhibitions

Every year, anniversaries and themed exhibitions await visitors, not to mention several competition areas. In terms of anniversaries and “youngtimers,” BMW will take center stage with the 40th anniversary of the M3 (and M4). For each of the six generations, a production model and a limited-edition model will be showcased. Several competition models will also be on display, while a “Prestige” area will be dedicated to the CSL brand, the ultimate expression of sportiness for BMW Motorsport.

The show highlights the 2 CV Spot, the first limited edition of the 2 CV, on its posters, providing an opportunity to showcase several other colorful limited editions, such as the 007, the France 3, and the Cocorico. “La Dolce Vita in Fiat” will bring together iconic models from the Turin-based automaker, spanning from the 1920s to the dawn of the 21st century, from popular models like the Topolino and the 850 to the most prestigious ones such as the 130 and Dino coupes, as well as several convertibles and spiders, such as the 1970 850, the X1/9, and the 1999 Barchetta.

“Voisin Aircraft,” under the title “From Airplanes to Cars,” will offer visitors an overview of this brand, which was prestigious in the 1920s and 1930s, then popular in the 1950s, and known for its eclectic range of bicycles, airplanes, and cars.

Racing Exhibits

As in previous years, competition will take center stage at Epoqu’Auto, with a special focus on F2 from the 1970s and 1980s, a golden age for the discipline, which served as a true stepping stone to Formula 1, as well as on Bugatti and auto racing during the interwar period, drifting with demonstrations on an outdoor track, local races and regional drivers in rally, circuit, and hillclimb events, ranging from the 2CV Cross to the Prost F1, as well as a Shelby area dedicated to the Cobra and the GT 40.

Clubs

As the cornerstones of the show, 220 brand and model clubs will be in attendance. The “Club des 3A”, the show’s organizer, will showcase four rare models at its booth, including the one-of-a-kind 1956 Louis Rosier Coupé. French automakers will be particularly well represented by Renault Originals and L’Aventure Peugeot-Citroën-DS, which will celebrate several model lines and anniversaries and bring together the brands’ clubs and enthusiast groups. Renault, for example, will celebrate the anniversaries of the Dauphine (1956), the R14 (1976), and the R21 (1986).

Peugeot will showcase some beautiful pre-war cars and a retrospective of the “04” series, from the 104 to the 604. Citroën will feature a wide variety of models, from the 2CV to the XM V6, including several sports models such as the AX Group A and the Visa Chrono. Naturally, clubs representing foreign brands will also be well represented, with some newcomers such as Aston Martin and Rover.

Institutions and Dealers

As they do every year, the region’s museums will showcase a few treasures, while numerous dealers will display a selection of their inventory, cars as well as scale models, works of art, books, technical documentation, spare parts, accessories, and maintenance products…

It’s also worth noting that three auctions will take place during the show: motorcycles on Friday, youngtimers on Saturday, and classics on Sunday. Although this isn’t the main focus of this blog, motorcycle and utility vehicle enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy, with numerous models on display and themed exhibits.

Of course, this is just a (brief) glimpse of what visitors will discover—more than 1,700 cars on the exhibitors’ booths.
