Musée National de l’Automobile de Beaulieu, Angleterre
Jusqu’au 2 novembre 2025
The National Motor Museum in Beaulieu is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship, which was created in 1950. Formula 1 is definitely a “trendy” exhibition topic. While the traveling F1 exhibition has moved to Amsterdam after London, and the National Motor Museum in Germany is expanding the subject of F1 to include Grand Prix models prior to F1, the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu is focusing on the F1 period from 1950 onwards, with the first F1 Grand Prix having taken place at the Silverstone circuit on May 13, 1950.

After initial domination by Italian manufacturers, the British Cooper, BRM, and Lotus took over, and England became a major force in F1, with a considerable number of teams based in what became known as F1 Valley. Non-British manufacturers often have a design office or even their headquarters in England (Mercedes, Renault, Red Bull, etc.). A tenth of cars tell this fascinating story, with an icon from each decade: BRM, Ferrari, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, Renault, Williams, etc. One of the most advanced F1 simulators will allow visitors (for an additional fee) to experience the thrills of Formula 1.

In addition, a portrait of Nigel Mansell, British idol and 1992 Formula 1 World Champion, will be on display as part of the anniversary exhibition. This oil portrait by artist Anthony Lawrence was originally painted in 1992 to illustrate the cover of the book “Champions” by Christopher Hilton and John Blunsden. Following the artist’s death in 2022, it was donated to the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu by his family and will remain in the museum’s collection after the exhibition.
