Introduced end of August 1974, the Citroën CX is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The Lorraine Automobile Museum is getting a head start to celebrate this anniversary with a special exhibition until May 12. The CX, which took over from the legendary DS in production since 1955 (nearly 20 years), is often considered to be Citroën’s last grand tourer, heir to the Traction and DS.
In any case, it was the last “top-of-the-range” Citroën to be a real commercial success with more than a million units sold. Introduced with engines derived from those of the DS, the engines would evolve over the course of his career to get more power, with at the top the CX 2400 GTI and then the CX 25 GTI Turbo 2, with a Prestige version at the top of the range. The Lorraine Automobile Museum is therefore presenting a sample of the CX models alongside the Tractions and DS that preceded it in the family.
