The Brooklands Museum is located on this famous English circuit, particularly known for the speed records that were set there (the circuit was a speed ring). Brooklands circuit has also been the venue for many Grands Prix, including the first British Grand Prix in 1926. It was also an area of activity for many car racing specialists, preparers, manufacturers, garages, drivers…
Brooklands Museum cars
The Brooklands Museum presents racing and record cars, so essentially rare or even unique cars. We discover mainly English women (Aston Martin, Austin, Bentley, Cooper, Lagonda, McLaren, MG or Morgan, but also Bugatti, Delage, Delahaye, Duesenberg, especially cars dating from the early20th century to the 60s, but also some more modern F1 and a Mercedes Formula E.
Besides cars
The museum exhibits a nice variety of old (mainly English) motorcycles, some bicycles and utility vehicles (including airport vehicles). But Brooklands having been an airfield, we discover many planes (again mainly English) Hawker and Vickers, a Concorde (Franco-British cooperation) that can be visited, but also some replicas of the first flying machines Blériot and Santos-Dumont. Several rooms of the Club House built in 1907 to accommodate the commissioners and responsible during the races have been restored and can be visited. Finally, the Sunbeam Café welcomes visitors during opening hours for a drink, snack or lunch, and the shop offers a wide choice of souvenirs. Ample free parking.
