Matra Museum, Romorantin, France
April 8 to November 12, 2023
For its annual exhibition, the Matra Museum is on English time. The English automotive industry has given birth to many mythical brands. British brands are also among the flagships of sport and motor racing.
The Matra Museum has brought together about twenty machines with 2, 3 or 4 wheels that represent the most famous brands, but also the great variety of production. The exhibition ranges from small MG or Triumph roadsters to more refined sports cars such as the Aston Martin DB2 (here in convertible), Austin Healey 3000 or Jaguar XK120, through the more confidential Daimler SP250, Lotus Europa or Morgan Aero, not to mention a McLaren M6-GT escaped from the racing tracks.
England is also the ultimate luxury, with the Rolls Royce Phantom I of the 1920s or its Phantom VI descendant of the 1970s/1980s. An exhibition on the English car industry would not be complete without an Austin Mini or one of the famous London Cab.
Sporty 3-wheelers are an English specialty, such as the BSA TW2410 or the Triking MK1, powered by a Moto Guzzi twin-cylinder. Some motorcycles, Norton Commando, Vincent Rapide or Velocette complete the mechanical panorama. The Matra Museum team also took care of the décor, to allow the visitor to immerse himself in the English atmosphere, with many typical objects and documents.
