Porte de Versailles, Paris, France
October 14 – 20, 2024
While the Paris Motor Show is first and foremost a motor show where manufacturers display their current models to promote and sell them, the organizers have also planned a number of events of interest to enthusiasts of classic, vintage or youngtimers, road cars or racing cars.
Matra story
To celebrate Matra’s 60th anniversary, the Romorantin Matra Museum will be lending some of its iconic models, representing the different facets of Matra’s history. For example, the MS 650, a prototype designed for endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winner of the Tour de France Auto in 1970 and 1971 (to find out more about this car, read the article on the FFVE website – in French). The Matra M25 (P38) was designed in 1989 to celebrate 25 years of Matra automobile. Ultra-lightweight, powered by a 16-valve Renault engine and turbocharged by Matra, it was capable of lightning acceleration, including a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds.
Another concept bridging the gap between show car and competition, the Espace F1 is a kind of 4-seater F1. Beneath the body of an Espace (albeit a body-built one), it features a complete rear axle, suspension and engine from the F1 Williams FW 14, with Renault’s 820hp V10. Performance is breathtaking, with 0 to 200 km/h in 6.3 seconds and a top speed in excess of 300 km/h. Several production models will also be on display, from the Djet inherited from René Bonnet to the Murena, including the 530 and the Rancho.
Movie Cars and Dreams
A Pop Culture area will bring together 25 iconic vehicles from films and TV series, from the Movie Cars Central collection: Aston Martin DBS (James Bond), Batmobile (Batman), De Lorean DMC 12 (Back to the Future), Dodge Charger (Fast and Furious), Ferrari 308 GTS (Magnum), Ford Gran Torino (Starsky & Hutch), Jeep Wrangler Sahara (Jurassic Park), Peugeot 406 (Taxi 2), Pontiac Firebrid Transam (KITT in K2000), Renault Fuego (Mais qui a tue Pamela Rose)…
The Dream Zone is an area dedicated to luxury, sports and hypercar exhibitors presenting their vehicles, as well as a number of exceptional vehicles, including the Alpine Pikes Peak, the Audi Quattro Rally Legend, the Ferrari F40, the Mercedes SLR and the Porsche Turbo 964.
Innovation, progrès…
The “Progress never stops!“ exhibition celebrates major automotive innovations through twenty emblematic cars from the early 20th century to the present day, from the Peugeot Type 3 to the Tesla Model S, via the Ford T, Citroen 2CV and Renault Twingo.
