Founded in 1913, the Maroc Automobile Club was relaunched in 2018 by a group of enthusiasts keen to bring together the many Moroccan car enthusiasts. The opening of the museum in 2024 is an important milestone, providing a place for enthusiasts to meet and for the public to discover the history of automobile and mobility.

Cars

The museum has chosen a historical and geographical approach through a number of themes, starting with the wheel and horse-drawn carriages. The history of the automobile begins with a replica of the famous Benz “Patent-Motorwagen” of 1886, considered to be the 1st car with an internal combustion engine.

The museum’s collection includes several models emblematic of the diversity of automobile production, from the Ford T, which inaugurated series production and launched the democratization of the car, to the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1949, symbol of absolute luxury on 4 wheels, through the Bugatti 35B, the first car designed specifically for motor racing (although it was also a road car) and which remains the most successful car in motor racing history.

After WWII, the automobile developed in Europe with small popular cars such as the Citroën 2 CV and Renault 4 CV, the Volkswagen “Beetle”, the Fiat 500 and the Austin. The rooms upstairs are dedicated to some of the world’s major car-producing countries: France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and the U.S.A. Most of these cars were produced from the 1950s to the early 1970s: popular cars such as the Mini or Renault 12, sedans like the Citroën DS, Mercedes, Peugeot 403 or Renault 16, and sporty cars like the MG, Jaguar, Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Corvette.

A special area is dedicated to motor racing, as Morocco has hosted a number of international events, including the “Rallye du Maroc”, now organized as a historic rally. Renault 8 Gordini, Citroën DS, Peugeot 504 and Porsche 911 illustrate the links between Maroc and motor sports.

Besides cars

The museum also exhibits horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, motorcycles and utility vehicles, offering a broader view of the history of mobility. The museum buildings also house the headquarters of the Maroc Automobile Club, a restoration workshop that can be visited, and an academy providing training in the automotive restoration jobs.

Several catering options are available, from food trucks in the gardens to gourmet restaurants. Spaces can also be rented for private or business seminars or receptions, with different surface areas and configurations.
