24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, France

May 28, 2026

The ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest, Le Mans 24 Hours organizer) took advantage of the Rétromobile show to announce the opening date of M24, the future motorsport museum that will take over from the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, while expanding its content to other motorsport disciplines. The 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum has been open since 1961 but has undergone several changes since its creation. With M24, another major step is in the works, as the ACO has partnered with Richard Mille, watchmaker and car collector, to offer what will be the International Museum of Motor Sport, the world’s largest museum dedicated to auto racing.

Over the years, Richard Mille has built up an impressive collection of racing cars representing the main disciplines of motorsport: endurance, F1, F2, rallying, hill climbing, as well as US disciplines such as Indycar and the powerful CanAm series. By combining the two collections, M24 will offer visitors an exceptional overview of the history of motorsports. M24 will take over the current site, which will be extensively modified and expanded to increase the exhibition space to 8,600 m²! With the first stone of this building laid on May 28, 2025, the schedule was tight to complete this major project. This symbolic date will also coincide with the 120th anniversary of the ACO.

The scenography of M24 is designed to offer visitors an immersive experience and plunge them into the past by reliving memorable moments. In addition to the museum, a large shop will allow visitors to take home a souvenir, and seminar rooms will offer companies a prestigious setting for their meetings. Visitor numbers to the museum tripled between 2018 and 2024, exceeding 200,000 visitors in 2024. The goal will naturally be to quickly return to these attendance levels, but above all to reach a target of 300,000 visitors, which would make it one of the most visited automobile museums in the world.
