The Automobile and Fashion Museum was inaugurated in Malaga on 16 September 2010. It presents the collection assembled by the Magalhaes family over time, starting with the current owner father. The originality of this museum is to bring together vintage automobiles, haute couture clothing and artistic works. It is housed in a historic building, the Tabacalera de Málaga, the city’s former tobacco factory built between 1923 and 1932.

Cars

About hundred cars are displayed at the Automobile and Fashion Museum on more than 6000 sqm, mainly from the end of the 19th century to the 1960s. While there are some popular cars such as the 1922 Citroën 5HP, 1931 Morris Minor or 1936 Fiat Topolino, the majority of the cars presented are sports or luxury models, with the most prestigious brands: Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, Cadillac, Cord, Delage, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lancia, Maserati, Mercedes, Minerva, Packard, Pierce-Arrow, Rolls-Royce, Talbot…

Some of the most notable models in the collection include the Bugatti 57 “Galibier”, the Aston Martin DB4, the Ferrari 250 GT Special, the Mercedes 540K (1937) and 300 SL “Gullwing”, and several Rolls-Royces from the 1920s to the 1960s. Several cars feature alternative energies, including an American Steam Car (1910), an electric Milburn (1916) or more recently a solar car from 2009 and a hydrogen-powered prototype from 2010.

Every day and leisure objects contemporary to the cars on display, as well as the clothing, put the evolution of automobiles, design and fashion into perspective.

Besides cars

As mentioned above, one of the originalities of this museum is that it also presents authentic haute couture clothes from the most famous designers, Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Balmain or Prada…

The decoration is complemented by contemporary artworks by artists such as Tony Grillo and José Vilacova, Hollywood photographs and original posters offered by the authentic Moulin Rouge cabaret. In particular, you will admire works that use mechanical elements, making the link between art and automobile.

There is a public car park and a food truck set up next to the museum offers drinks and snacks. The Automobile and Fashion Museum is close to the beach, and just 3 km from the centre of Malaga.
