About Automobile Museums
Automobile Museums is a digital platform dedicated to automotive museums around the world. The Automobile-Museums.com website is at the heart of the system, complemented by a newsletter, LinkedIn and Facebook pages.
The objective of the website is to be the place of reference of the field, by listing museums and collections related to the automobile, open to the public, striving to be as complete as possible. The collections are classified by country and region, with one page per establishment, quickly presenting the museum, some cars on display and other exhibition elements (other vehicles, decoration, objects, visitor services, etc.). and giving practical information to visit (address, contacts, opening and price). Thus, the visitor can find in one place all the information to prepare his visit.
The website also lists many temporary exhibitions organized by museums throughout the year, as well as the main events of the classic automobile.
The monthly Newsletter will include some of the information, but above all will offer each month a more detailed visit to one or two museums or collections. The newsletter will make it possible to better know the place for those who have not yet had the chance or the opportunity to visit it, or to better prepare a visit.
LinkedIn and Facebook also communicate to the community the evolutions of the platform and relay the news.
Why Automobile Museums?
A means of transport, of easier movement, the automobile quickly became a symbol of freedom, emancipation and an object of passion, while competition in all its forms developed the interest of the public. Over time, enthusiasts have developed car collections that they have sometimes opened to the public, associations have been created to open museums, institutions have wanted to share their heritage, and more recently manufacturers have understood the importance of valuing their history. All this Unfortunately, traditional tourist guides say little about these museums, which allow the general public to better understand the evolution of the industry, fashions, uses. The passion is there, however, as evidenced by the affluence on shows and gatherings of old cars, or the recent phenomenon of youngtimers. Automobile-Museums is therefore the means to inform, to interest, to attract amateurs and others, and to promote these places of culture and memory.
And now?
The Automobile-Museums.com site has been online since the end of January 2022, but it will continue to grow in the coming months and years, with more museums and collections, in more countries, and by developing the pages, especially with more photos. Practical information will be regularly updated, and changes are planned.
After the launch of an English version, it is planned to add interactive maps to make it easier to locate museums and collections. Later, other communication tools may enrich the platform.
