Located in The Hague, the Louwman Museum is one of the oldest private collections of cars. The Louwman Automobile Museum is housed in a beautiful building in the middle of a park. It is a real showcase for more than 275 cars, splendid examples of the history of the automobile. From 1885 to the 2000s, the Louwman Museum is a testament to more than 130 years of progress, innovation and design.

Cars

With nearly 300 cars on display, variety is at the rendezvous of the Louwman Museum. The variety is due to the origins of cars, European, American, Japanese and even Indian. Eclecticism is also in the genres, with sports cars, prestige, unique models, show cars, popular, tourism and competition… Suffice to say that there is no shortage of nuggets and opportunities to be surprised or amazed. Some brands like Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Ferrari are very well represented. The collection presents several Spyker, a prestigious Dutch brand from the 1900s/1920s.

The 1914 Dodge Touring , the first in the collection, is still on display at the Louwman Museum. There is also a Brooke 25/30-HP bodied in “Swan Car”, the Spyker 60-HP (1st 4WD in the world), a Talbot Lago T150 SS Figoni & Falaschi, a Pegaso Z-102, a Duesenberg SJ, a Lamborghini 350 GT, a Jaguar XKSS, or the Aston Martin DB5 of James Bond.

The Louwman Museum also has several competition models. Of particular note are 2 cars that have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans: the Lagonda M45R in 1935 and the Jaguar Type D in 1957.

Besides cars

Utilities (trucks, buses…) and fire engines and even airplanes are also on display. In addition to these varied vehicles, the Louwman Museum offers many attractions to visitors with automotive-themed art collections, themselves worthy of the detour. The very large collection of miniatures shows the evolution of the toy, some also being masterpieces, with for example competition models, The museum has gathered an impressive collection of posters from the19th and20th century, some by great artists. Trophies and sculptures on the theme of the automobile as well as hundreds of objects related to the automobile and transport will complete the visit. Finally, the museum houses a restaurant decorated like a village square surrounded by its shops.
