The Kansas City Automotive Museum, open since June 2014, is currently located in Olathe, about 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. A project is being developed to build a new building in the city center, to expand the exhibition spaces and make the museum more accessible to visitors.
Cars
The Kansas City Automotive Museum offers 2 main spaces. The first permanently exhibits about forty cars on a collection of about 100 models, with a rotation every 4 to 6 months. A second space offers thematic temporary exhibitions each month.
Besides cars
The museum also aims to make known the automotive history of the region, through the manufacturers who produced cars there, or local personalities linked to the automobile, such as Masten Gregory, winner of the 24 Hours hard Le Mans 1965.
The museum also offers “The Undergound”, an underground car park in downtown Kansas City, where it is possible to park your car (rather collector’s car) safely, and which can be visited by appointment.
