METAStadt Vienna, Austria
February 2 to June 6, 2024
After Madrid in 2023, the major exhibition dedicated to Formula 1 opens its doors in Vienna (Austria) for a few months. From 2 February until the end of spring, visitors will be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of F1 thanks to many innovative technologies. Curated with the support of experts, historians and journalists, Formula 1 Exhibition offers a unique insight into the extraordinary world of Formula 1. Six specially designed rooms spread over 3,000m2.
Visitors start their journey by passing through “Once Upon A Time In Formula 1”, where previously-unseen photographs transport fans through the sport’s most iconic and defining moments. “Drivers and Duels” then celebrates the most iconic drivers and legendary races since Formula 1 began, before “Revolution By Design” presents the dazzling breakthrough innovations in the sport and explores the new technologies that lie ahead.
The “Design Lab” takes visitors inside a Formula 1 factory, introducing them to typical F1 components, including the 2022 hybrid power unit. Next room “Survival” displays the remains of Romain Grosjean’s burnt out HAAS race car from his dramatic 2020 crash in Bahrain, serving as a tribute to safety innovations in Formula 1. The show then reaches its climax in “The Pit Wall”, a show-stopping cinematic and immersive experience that allows visitors to relive the greatest moments in Formula 1 history like never before. In Vienna, a dedicated room is added in cooperation with Red Bull, showing how Austria contributes to the development of F1.
Several F1 from different eras are on display, including the 1956 Maserati 250F, driven by champions such as Juan Manuel Fangio or Stirling Moss, Gerhard Berger’s Ferrari F187/88C, winner of the 1988 Italian Grand Prix, the Alpha Tauri with which Pierre Gasly won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing RB16B for his 1st World Championship title in 2021. Photos, films, 360° projection, interactive screens, models, drivers’ equipment, car parts, everything is there to delight F1 fans.
