En 1957\, Stirling Moss atteint la vitesse folle pour l’époque de 245\,64 mph (environ 395\,31 km / h). La MG EX 181 était équipée d’un moteur turbocompressé MGA Twin Cam de 1500 cc développant 290 ch à 7300 tr/min. Deux ans plus tard\, en 1959\, avec Phil Hill et un moteur de 300 ch\, la voiture franchit la barrière symbolique des 250 mph en portant le record à 254\,91 mph (410\,5 km / h). Plus de six décennies plus tard\, la MG EX 181 profite d’une retraite bien méritée au British Motor Museum. \n\n\n\n\n\nMG Tribute\n\n\n\nThe official poster of Rétromobile 2024 has just been unveiled\, with a famous British car\, the MG EX  181. 2 elements characterize the MG EX 181\, a futuristic design reminiscent of a jet plane or spacecraft\, in total break with its time and legendary records  set on the salt lake of Bonneville in Utah (USA). In 1957\, Stirling Moss reached the crazy speed for the time of 245.64 mph (about 395.31 km/h). The MG EX 181 was equipped with a 1500 cc MGA Twin Cam turbocharged engine producing 290 hp at 7300 rpm.  2 years later\, in 1959\, with Phil Hill and a 300 hp engine\, the car broke the symbolic barrier of 250 mph by bringing the record to 254.91 mph (410.5 km/h). More than six decades later\, the MG EX 181 enjoys a well-deserved retirement at the British Motor Museum. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLes 100 ans de l’autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry\n\n\n\nRétromobile 2024 célébrera le centenaire de l’Autodrome UTAC Linas-Montlhéry\, avec une exposition inédite dédiée aux cent ans de ce temple de la passion automobile. L’anneau de vitesse est construit en seulement 6 mois en 1924 à quelques kilomètres de Paris. il est si pentu par endroit qu’il est impossible pour un humain de s’y tenir debout. Très vite\, l’anneau est complété par un circuit routier de 12 kilomètres traversant la forêt avoisinante.Pour l’exposition\, une vingtaine de véhicules mythiques ayant marqué l’histoire seront présentés Bugatti Type 36/35A Grand-Prix 1925\, AMILCAR MCO Grand-Prix 1928\, Jonghi Record 350 1934\, Peugeot 404 diesel de record\, McLaren F1 GTR\, Matra MS650… Si l’autodrome n’accueille plus de compétitions depuis 2004\, la retraite ne semble pour autant pas se profiler à l’horizon. The speed ring was built in just 6 months in 1924 a few kilometers from Paris. It is so steep in places that it is impossible for a human to stand on it. Very quickly\, the ring is completed by a 12-kilometre road circuit through the surrounding forest. For the exhibition\, some twenty mythical vehicles that have marked history will be presented: Bugatti Type 36/35A Grand-Prix 1925\, AMILCAR MCO Grand-Prix 1928\, Jonghi Record 350 1934\, Peugeot 404 diesel record\, McLaren F1 GTR\, Matra MS650… Although the autodrome has not hosted competitions since 2004\, retirement does not seem to be on the horizon. But for the next edition in 2024\, a large 2\,000 m² space at the center of the show in hall 2.2 will be exclusively dedicated to two-wheelers. Several renowned manufacturers such as BMW Motorrad\, Ducati\, Harley-Davidson\, Indian Motorcycle and Yamaha will be present. This space will also host a special exhibition dedicated to the history of a legendary lineage: the Monneret family\, from grandfather Georges\, an accomplished pilot from the 1930s to the 1950s. The sons took over\, winning a series of victories and records\, until the grandson Philippe (now 65 years old) who also won many races\, especially in endurance racing\, broke records and established a famous motorcycle school.
